Why Megapixel?
-
A pixel (an picture element) is one of the many tiny dots that make up the representation of a picture in a computer's memory. Usually the dots are so small and so numerous that, when printed on paper or displayed on a computer monitor, they appear to merge into a smooth image. The color and intensity of each dot is chosen individually by the computer to represent a small area of the picture.
-
A measure of resolution that reflects the ability of a digital camera to record detail. The more megapixels a camera has, the more detail its images can contain and the more they can be enlarged without losing clarity. More megapixels aren't always necessary.
-
In the world of camera surveillance, a megapixel camera becomes nessesary when digital zooming of an image is required to see more detail. |
