Network Camera Types?
Network cameras incorporate a web server allowing the camera to send streaming motion JPEG video images over the internet without requiring a PC at the camera.

Older CCTV camera required a cable connection back to the computer or video recorder. Network camera technology allows the camera device to sit at the edge and provide live video feeds without the use of a computer local to the Camera.

Basic Network camera types include:
  • Fixed Position Camera. This camera is stationary and generally has a field of view  based on the lens selection.
  • Pan - Tilt - Zoom Camera. Know as PTZ (Pan,Tilt Zoom) or PT (Pan, Tilt). These cameras permit the remote viewer to Pan the camera left and right, Tilt Up and down, and  in the case of PTZ, Zoom through the use of mechanical zoom lens and or Digital zoom technology.
  • MegaPixel Camera. Megapixel Cameras are IP (or Network) based cameras built around Megapixel technology. These cameras produce large, hi-resolution images. The quality of a Megapixel image is usually very high and can be used for print applications. This type of system is more suited for archival applications than for live, real-time viewing. Mexapixel ranges by Pixel count of image sensor.
  • IR Capable Camera. Any of the above camera types may be supplied with an IR cut filter. This filter when removed allows the camera to utilize the infrared light source. With the IR cut filter in place the camera will filter the near infrared spectrum allowing the colors to be diplayed without color correction.
